Consumer Court Slapped Rs.50,000 Fine on Daraz.Pk for Faulty Products

The court has also directed the Daraz.pk to replace the damaged product or alternatively return the amount which is Rs7,795. Dania Kashif filed a complaint against Daraz.pk through its managing director under Section 26 of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act, 2014. She had ordered one Play-Doh DohVinci from Daraz.pk in the price of Rs. 7,795. However, when she got the parcel, the product was in bad condition. Not only this, but the price mentioned on the parcel was Rs. 6,730 instead of Rs7,795. The complainant also contended that she had filed a complaint through the defendant’s helpline, but they did not entertain it. On the other hand, Daraz.pk has denied the allegations and argued that the claim was filed beyond the statutory period of 30 days. Moreover, the defendant further contended that they, vide the purchase summary, charged Rs. 99, and its service was limited to delivery only and the remaining payment went to the account of the seller. It further submitted that the defendant replied via email and apprised the complainant about the procedure of refund and return, but the complainant did not avail it. Source: Dawn
