Amir Azeem Bajwa Appointed As New Chairman PTA
Amir Azeem is the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals retired from the Pakistan Army on 16 November 2017. A meeting was held between the PM IK and the federal cabinet in which new acting Chairman had to be decided. A list of three members was put forward for the selection of New Chairman PTA. Moreover, the list that was submitted by the Cabinet division to the federal cabinet included the following names: Member Technical: Major Gen (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa Member Compliance: Dr. Khawar Khokhar Member Finance: Mohammad Naveed The body considered a summary of the Cabinet Division for the appointment of new chairman PTA from that list and appointed Bajwa as the new Chairman PTA. Amir Azeem Bajwa was the former Director-General SCO who also worked as Member Technical at Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The new PTA chairman has a hectic agenda ahead. He needs to work really hard for the betterment and improvement of the Telecom Sector. His agenda includes the renewal of licenses of three mobile operators, implementation of Telecom Policy as well as the implementation of the cybercrime law in letter and spirit. Let’s see what will be the new strategies of the Government in order to bring betterment to the Telecom Sector of Pakistan.
