I was surprised and shocked to know this. Being a tech journalist, I knew that it is a mid-range device priced around PKR 40,000. Still, I decided to cross-check it on Daraz. On Daraz the device was available at PKR 56,999.
Ok, let us consider another option. It might be possible that the PKR 847 price is for Galaxy A8 cover and is justified. However, in the description below, they have not mentioned it and have written “Samsung Galaxy A8 Mobile.”
Daraz Fake marketing techniques
I still decided to give Daraz a third chance and thought this might be human error. So I shifted to Facebook to pass time and there again I got Daraz sponsored post revealing the same detail which gave me a clear view of their stupid way to grab customers. Even feature phones are not available at such fewer prices in Pakistan. Moreover, the above description says that it is a dummy phone for kids, but upon clicking on the shop now option I was directed to a page having an original phone from facebook and from Instagram, I was directed to the app. I searched for this specific toy on Daraz but every time error came, due to which I was further confirmed this is nothing more than fake marketing.
Last year on Daraz 1111 sale, people had raised serious concerns over the price Of the same product. On asking from Daraz, it said that both are from different consumers, and there was a difference of whopping 3000 rupees from both sellers. Looking at all this, I have lost my trust from e-commerce companies in Pakistan. I thought after being acquired by Alibaba, the poor marketing of Daraz will get better, but it has remained the same. — Shaikh Qasim (@ShaikhhQasim) November 11, 2018
Daraz Cheap Marketing:
Moreover, this was fake marketing however the e-commerce company is also promoting CHEAP Marketing techniques. For instance, it is selling new note oil which is breast enlargement oil. Selling it is fine as people might be using it. But the poor marketing strategy is not acceptable.
Let us all remind Daraz that it is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. We strongly welcome all types of marketing however we will not accept sexist marketing at any cost. This image might be from the company selling the product, however, Daraz being a Pakistani brand should take the responsibility to filter such things before putting them on a sponsor.
