Huawei, Honor, Oppo and other Chinese smartphone manufactures came into the Pakistani market and captured the “Low End to Mid Range” segment completely. Why? Because they offered “better value for money”. Finally, we are glad to see Samsung with the new A series specifically addressing the needs of the majority of Pakistan’s smartphone consumers.
Samsung Galaxy A30 Review
Samsung Galaxy A30 comes under PKR 39,999 in Pakistan. After using it for a few days now, here’s the full detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy A30. (Our review unit is the Black color)
Design, Build Quality & Display
Samsung Galaxy A30, although made of polycarbonate, is really well built and feels solid in the hand. The back of the device is “3D Glasstic” as Samsung calls it. It isn’t as good as an actual glass back but, trust me it wouldn’t disappoint at all. The Display! The Samsung Galaxy A30 has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a U-shaped notch at the top, which basically houses the front selfie camera (we’ll get to the camera performance later in the review). We really loved the fact that Samsung has offered a Super AMOLED panel which has a 1080×2340 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Seriously, we think the display of the Galaxy A30 has an upper hand over the entire competition at this price point. The phone has really tin bezels and ensures that futuristic looks, although there is a noticeable chin at the bottom of the screen. Like all A-Series smartphones, Samsung Galaxy A30 too comes with USB Type-C port for charging. Next to the charging port, on the right, we have the mono speaker and on the left, we have 3.5mm headphones jack (thumbs up for the audio jack Samsung). If you compare the design with the Samsung Galaxy A50, the only noticeable difference you’d feel is the fingerprint sensor mounted at the back on the Galaxy A30 and the triple camera lens. Other than that, they look almost identical.
Galaxy A30 Performance & Software
Samsung Galaxy A30 comes with an Exynos 7904 Chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Storage. If you look at the benchmarks (mentioned below), it didn’t beat the competition like the Honor 10 Lite, Redmi Note 7 Pro. But the good news is that in day to day usage, you wouldn’t feel any lag whatsoever. As far the software is concerned, the A30 comes out the box running Android 9 Pie and has the Samsung’s One UI skin on top. It’s the same UI that the top-tiered Samsung Flagships has, basically providing you the same UI experience at a lower price.
Samsung Galaxy A30 Camera Performance
The Samsung Galaxy A30 features a dual-lens setup at the back, the Primary sensor is 16MP with f/1.7 aperture along with that, we have a 5MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The ultra-wide sensor helps in providing a 123-degree field of view. As far as the front camera is concerned, there’s a 16MP camera sensor that provides decent selfies.

Security: Fingerprint Sensor and Face Unlock
A30 has both fingerprint sensor and face unlock features along with the Pin, Passcode and Patterns. The face unlock takes less than a minute to set up and works fast and accurate most of the times. While testing, it slightly lacked efficiency at low light situations, took longer than usual to unlock the device. The rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is really fast, but we noticed a slight delay after touching the fingerprint sensor and the screen being unlocked and lit up. If you come from a high-end phone and try using it, you would know what I’m talking about.
Battery Life of the Galaxy A30
Samsung Galaxy A30 has a huge 4000 MAh battery that offers great battery life. After heavy usage of the smartphone throughout the day, we still had 25-30% of battery left. So, a moderate user should easily get around 1.5 – 2 days of battery life out of it. Thanks to Samsung, the Galaxy A30 ships with a 15W fast charger within the box. We managed to charge it fully in 2.5 hours.

Samsung Galaxy A30 Review Conclusion: Should you consider buying it?
If you are looking for an overall package that offers decent performance, has an amazing display, good battery life and can capture images that have enough detail to be posted on your social media, then the Galaxy A30 offers the best package under PKR 40K. If you are a hardcore smartphone gamer, we wouldn’t recommend the A30 for that purpose. You should consider getting the Honor Play or wait for the Redmi Note 7 Pro to be launched in Pakistan.
